The Ministry of Culture discussed issues of supporting domestic cinema
The Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova held a working meeting with representatives of Russian Film Distributors Association. One of the main topics of the meeting was the support of domestic cinema.
In particular, the experts discussed a strategy for planning release dates for Russian films and supporting domestic film products with the participation of the Film Distributors Association. During the meeting, members of the Association announced their intention to fix a certain period of time, after which it will be impossible to postpone the date of the proposed release.
“Cinema production is a long-planned business,” said members of the Association.
According to them, this proposal was supported by all members of the organization, but has not yet received official status. According to the participants, they intend to formalize the initiative in a Memorandum and inform about it all representatives of the film industry.
In addition, the meeting participants agreed to create a working group with the participation of representatives of the Cinema Fund to discuss the process of selecting release dates for socially significant national films.
Representatives of such companies as Walt Disney Company CIS LLC, Central Partnership, Universal Pictures International, CTV, etc attended the event.
Russian Film Distributors Association was established in 2017. The participants included representatives of six leading film distribution companies in Russia. The Association’s tasks include creating favorable environment for the growth and development of the cinema theater market, establishing a dialogue between business representatives and authorities, creating a set of laws and regulations to improve the business climate in the industry, and other.
