Sergei Makovetsky told Parisians about the Vakhtangov Theater
In Paris, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture, a creative meeting was held with Rimas Tuminas, Artistic Director of the Vakhtangov State Academic Theater and Sergei Makovetsky, actor, the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Member of the Council of the Russian Union of Rightholders.
The event was held as part of a large European tour of Vakhtangov Theater performances and actors on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Theater.
According to the organizers, the event “became an independent theatrical action.”
In particular, Rimas Tuminas revealed some elements of his unique directorial approach.
The ‘meet-the-artist event’ was preceded by the premiere screening of the French version of the documentary film “The Ark of Rimas” released in 2017. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the work of Rimas Tuminas as Artistic Director at the Vakhtangov Theater.
At the premiere, the public was given a versatile idea of Rimas Tuminas art as a film director.
In turn, Sergey Makovetsky shared with guests biographical stories of the famous actors and about the Theater.
Sergey Makovetsky has been an employed actor at the Vakhtangov Theater since 1980. One of his most outstanding works was the role of Voynitsky in the play “Uncle Vanya” (staged by Rimas Tuminas), that received many prestigious theater awards, including: the Crystal Turandot, the Stanislavsky International Award, the Oleg Yankovsky Award, the Iconic Actor Prize.
