RUR participated in the international seminar “Protection of copyright, related rights and collective management”
The international seminar “Protection of copyright, related rights and collective management” was held on March 30-31, 2011 in Astana (the capital of the Republic Kazakhstan). It was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Committee for Intellectual Property Rights, Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organization (IFRRO), Kazakh Society for Performers’ rights management (KOUPI) and other organizations.
Experts from Russia, Belgium and France, scientists, businessmen and representatives of national collecting societies – Russian Authors’ Society (RAO), Russian Organization for Intellectual Property (VOIS), Russian Union of Right-holders (RUR) and others took part in the event.
The seminar was devoted to Kazakhstan entry in the World Trade Organization and to the Common Free Market Zone due to which protection of intellectual property becomes more and more important.
Deputy Director of RUR Mr. Victor Osipov made a report on cooperation of states-members of the Common Free Market Zone in the sphere of intellectual property protection and application of consistent principles of regulation requiring close cooperation between state bodies of all states – members and collective societies. “Coordinated principles of work should become the base both for regulatory control and practical realization of right-holders’ interests”, – he said.
