RUR for the first time took part in CISAC European Committee Meeting

CISAC European Committee Meeting was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on April 28-29, 2015. More than 90 authors’ society representatives from across Europe attended the event. Erik Valdes-Martines, Deputy Director of RUR, took part in the meeting.

CISAC European Committee Meeting was for the first time organized in the Caucasus region, which was a sign of recognition of the remarkable progress achieved by the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA). The Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze opened the event by welcoming the guests. Among the guest speakers were CISAC Director General Gadi Oron, CISAC Regional Director for Europe Mitko Chatalbashev, representatives of the European Grouping of Societies of Authors and Composers (GESAC), the Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA), the Visual Management Entity of Plastic Artists (VEGAP, Spain), the Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights (Artisjus), the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS, UK), the Society of Authors, Composers and Editors of Music (SACEM, France).

Erik Valdes-Martines made a presentation about global licensing which can be an effective solution to the problem of Internet piracy.
