RUR took part in the CISAC and AAO conference in Baku
On May 4-5, 2016 an international conference “The Role of Societies for Collective Management in Supporting Creative Activity and Promoting Cultural Diversity” was held in Baku (Azerbaijan), organized by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) and the Azerbaijan Authors Society (AAO). RUR was presented by Deputy General Director Eric Valdez-Martinez at this event.
More than 100 experts from different countries, including representatives of government departments and public associations, authors and performers, representatives of music publishing houses and other participants of creative industries from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Estonia, Canada, Sweden, Slovenia and other countries attended the two-day forum.
The chairman of the AAO, Ismail Mammadkerimov, opened the event, telling his colleagues about the progress in the social and economic development of Azerbaijan, as well as about the work being done by the AAO to ensure the interests of Azerbaijani and foreign rights holders. CISAC Director General, Gadi Oron, Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, Malena Mard, CISAC Europe Bureau Director, Mitko Chatalbashev, Chairman of the Copyright Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Imanov made welcoming addresses.
Eric Valdes-Martínez presented his report at the panel discussion “Copyright and Intellectual Property in Other Countries”, in which the leaders of Kyrgyzpatent, the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), the Estonian Authors’ Society, the Society of Rightholders for Turkey Music (MESAM), the Georgian Copyright Association (GCA), the Society for the Management of Performers and Producers of Phonograms of Slovenia (IPF) and other organizations also participated.
On May 5, Gadi Oron, Mitko Chatalbashev, Ismail Mammadkerimov, Eric Valdez-Martines and MESAM Secretary General Gunes Ramazanoglu took part in the TV program aired on the AzTV channel. The interview was devoted to the protection of copyright and the conference held in Baku.
