Nikita Mikhalkov, President of the Council of the Russian Union of Rightholders held casting of actors to his Academy

Nikita Mikhalkov, a famous filmmaker, actor, screenwriter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, President of the Council of the Russian Union of Rightholders, completed casting to the acting workshop of N.S. Mikhalkov Academy of Cinematographic and Theater Arts.

This year, the Academy received nearly 400 applications from more than 30 cities of Russia. As part of the casting, a targeted regional program was carried out in five regions of Russia: the casting committee traveled to Tyumen, Izhevsk, Oryol, Orenburg and Novosibirsk. In addition, in June, “hearings” of artists were held at the Russian Youth Forum “Taurida” in Crimea.

The winners of these stages were invited to the final round – acquaintance with the committee. 25 people aged 21 – 34 who had earlier graduated from the theater colleges of Chelyabinsk, Krasnodar, Moscow, Saratov, Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg were admitted to the finals. “This year we had a very strict, even tough casting. Those guys whom we did not admit this year would have been admitted in the past years,” said Nikita Mikhalkov.

One of the tests of the finals was “improvisation” – a conversation with Nikita Mikhalkov. The President of the Academy asked the artists unexpected questions, played short scenes. Thus, the master revealed the reaction of the future actors to an unexpected situation, the ability to instantly adjust, live it through, and their emotional flexibility.

As a result of the event, 13 people were admitted the acting, 5 to the directing, and 6 to the producing workshops.

Studies at the N.S. Mikhalkov Academy of Cinematographic and Theater Arts continue one year and include 1,500 hours of classes devoted to the history and theory of Russian and foreign culture, the development of cinematography, theater, a course in actor competencies in the field of theater and cinema, etc.
